We draft new employment contracts and check existing ones against the law and the collective agreement. The terms are clear to both parties and the contract meets the legal requirements.
An employment contract is an agreement between the employer and the employee on the work to be done. It can be made orally, but a written contract is always recommended. The Employment Contracts Act (työsopimuslaki) requires the employee to receive the key terms of employment in writing.
The contract sets out, for example, the start date and duration of employment, any trial period, duties, pay, working hours and the applicable collective agreement (TES). The terms must not be less favourable to the employee than the law or the applicable collective agreement requires.

Information on whether the employment is permanent or fixed-term
The law allows an oral contract, but the employee must be given a written statement of the key terms of employment. A written contract helps prevent disagreements.
Can a fixed-term contract always be used?
A fixed-term contract requires a justified reason. We go through the situation before the contract is drawn up.
